How billing works

Free account, paid usage
Creating an account is free and gives you access to the portal. You send API requests on a plan or on pay as you go. You activate either in the portal through Stripe Checkout, where you enter a payment method.
Pay as you go
No fixed fee. Once you have activated it, the first 100 lookups of every calendar month are included. After that you pay €0.05 per lookup, billed monthly afterwards, up to the maximum of 10,000 lookups per month.
Included allowance and maximum
The included allowance applies per calendar month (Dutch time), on a yearly plan too; what you don’t use expires. If you use more, you pay per extra lookup, billed monthly afterwards. The maximum is a hard limit: once it is reached, the API answers 429 usage_cap_reached until the next month starts. The owners of the account get an email when the allowance is nearly used, when it is used, and when the maximum is reached.
Analytics queries
There is currently no price per extra analytics query: the included number is also the maximum of the month. After that the API answers 429 query_cap_reached until the next month starts. Listing the fields with GET /analytics/fields does not count.
Who is Vehicle API and mutation feed for?
An account has one plan: you can’t take Vehicle API and Mutation feed side by side. If you want to look up registrations and follow the feed, this is the plan. It is not the sum of those two at a discount: it includes 50,000 lookups and 5,000 analytics queries per month, against 10,000 and 1,000 in Vehicle API.
Snapshot or mutation file?
A snapshot is the whole register at one moment, as files: it is how you start a copy of your own. A mutation file holds only the changes of one day or between two cursors, the same ones as in the feed: it is how you keep that copy current. Mutation files count against the monthly limit; snapshots do not.
